Ask any business owner or hiring manager, and most will tell you the toughest part of growing a company is finding the right people. Especially if you’re a company built on principles and values. It can be challenging to find people who can not only do the job but also fit with the team and embrace the company culture. So when you find the right people, you do all you can to encourage their growth and find opportunities for them within the company.
LEL recently had the opportunity to do just that, and are pleased to announce the promotion of Tim Reid to Director of Logistics for LEL International.
Tim was promoted to the position, replacing Karen Whitener who retired in March after being with the company for 10 years. As Director of Logistics, Tim will now oversee the coordination of shipments into and out of our facilities nationwide from our customers in North America and around the world.
Tim has been with LEL since June 2018 running our warehouse and managing shipments into and out of our Headquarters in Duncan, South Carolina. After Karen’s retirement, Tim and Director of Operations, Kathy Hudson both chipped in to make sure equipment loading and customer deliveries never missed a beat, truly demonstrating the LEL Value of Embracing the Challenge.
Owner Lee Lancaster has built LEL on the foundation of people and has always made promotion from within a top priority. He announced Tim’s official promotion, sharing this story:
“The reason I am so excited is because I believe Tim is what our company is all about. Loving People, Embracing the Challenge, Leaving It Better; and most importantly, always willing to take a next step are all characteristics of Tim. Tim Reid has done this since the first day he showed up with a smile on his face! Tim started working with LEL through Tradesmen International. If you know anything about stripping wire, you know it is one of the hardest jobs! For months, Tim was able to strip thousands of pounds of copper a day but always had a smile on his face the whole time. Tim was then promoted to Associate Director of Operations under Kathy’s leadership and was our first full-time person in this position. Not only did he help transform our warehouse but he carried out the vision to a different level.”
Outside of his responsibilities managing our warehouse and logistics, Tim is an avid golfer in his spare time and fittingly shared this quote about his recent promotion.
